WHO WE ARE
We are a people embracing our need for Jesus, delighting in Him, and joining in His work of redemption so that all things reflect the goodness, truth, and beauty of our triune God.
The Christ Church PCA Vision Plan has been produced under the authority of our elders and is the prayerful work of our Vision Team, composed of a cross section of our membership.
MEET OUR CHURCH STAFF
James Dickson Senior Pastor
Anna, Pierce, Blair, Stuart, and I moved to Trussville in August of 2011 to begin the work of planting Christ Church PCA. It was a journey the Lord had been preparing us for all of our lives, but one that we have only recently been able to see more clearly. Prior to our call to ministry and my transition to seminary, I believed that my identity was in Christ, though I often struggled with placing that identity in my various roles as a husband, father, and business man. Anna and I met while students at Auburn University, and were married just a couple of years after graduation. I then went on to Emory University in Atlanta for an MBA. Following Emory, Anna and I began to have kids, and I started a career in business. Initially, that led me to the world of finance, working for what was then known as Wachovia Bank. After several years, we moved to North Carolina and joined my father-in-law in the family homebuilding and development business. There we stayed until, in the midst of the housing downturn, we shut down our business, and I submitted to the call to ministry.
Those past experiences are part of who I am and God has used them all to prepare me for ministry, but there is so much more that is important to why we are here in Trussville to plant Christ Church PCA. Most significantly, my identity is still in Christ, but God has added the role of church planter and has has called us to this ministry, in this place, at this time.
Personally, I love the doctrines of grace! I love the doctrine that, we in the PCA, hold so dear. I love the Word of God. But most of all, I believe God has called us to this ministry so that we might reach the hearts of the people in Trussville with the message of Jesus Christ’s redeeming love. When I am not doing the work of the church, I am usually spending time with my wife and 3 children. I like to exercise. I love to talk football. I also love to fish, though I am a better fisherman when I have someone with me, guiding me along the way.
This is who I am and a little of who we are. Our family is thankful to be here in Trussville, and thankful that God has placed us in His Church. We look forward to sharing it with you.
Michael Davis Assistant Pastor
The journey the Lord has brought my family and I along which led us to Christ Church PCA has been a display of His faithfulness, and provision. Michelle and I grew up in Trussville, but before arriving back in our hometown the Lord had several other places for us to serve him along the way. Michelle and I met the summer after my freshman year at the University of Alabama. After graduating from college we were married in 2006. After nearly 6 years in the electrical supply sales industry the Lord stirred our hearts towards ministry and provided a way for us to move to St. Louis, MO to attend Covenant Theological Seminary. During our time in St. Louis the Lord gave us further clarity, and directed us to consider serving Him overseas. After a few trips to England, he made it clear to us, and provided the resources for us to move to Northwest England (near Manchester) where Michael served as pastor of a small International Presbyterian Church (IPC). After serving there for 2 years the Lord guided us back to the US and gave us great clarity that we would be serving Him right back here in our hometown of Trussville, Alabama. What a joy it is for us to be a part of and to serve alongside this wonderful family that is Christ Church PCA.
Our family has grown along the way as well. We moved away from Alabama with one child at age 2, and returned with 4 wonderful and energetic kids. Sarah Kate, Evelyn, Silas, and Levi. Since being back, we have added one more to the bunch, Selah. These kiddos are always keeping Michelle and I on our toes!
As I read scripture I am continually amazed by how much our Lord loves people. My hope is that I might be able to share some measure of that love with the people of my hometown of Trussville. I look forward to an opportunity to connect with you personally.
Linda McElroy Financial Administrator
Linda was born and raised in Birmingham, never moving outside of a 30 mile radius of where she was born. She attended Samford University focusing on Paralegal Studies. After working for years in the legal field, Linda's focus turned principally to financial work. She worked for ten years at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Homewood, and then as Covenant planted Cahaba Park Church, accounted for and reported to Murray Lee during his initial fundraising efforts. Linda enjoys reading and sewing, but primarily having close family relationships with her husband Roger, their girls, and grandsons. Linda is thrilled to now be at Christ Church PCA, never being more sure that this is where God has called her to be.
Director of Youth Ministries
Jeff Bagley Director of Youth Ministries
Jeri and I met at the University of Georgia through our participation in Campus Outreach, a college ministry which was critical in forming in us a solid biblical foundation. After getting married in 2014, Jeri began working while I finished my degree in advertising. Upon graduation in 2015, we moved to Birmingham and eventually joined Christ Church P.C.A. The people of Christ Church have walked alongside of Jeri and I through various career changes, all in the process of our pursuit of God’s calling on our lives. After working as a landscape contractor, and then as a banker, I am now thrilled to join the Christ Church staff through the RYM Youth Intern program. Jeri and I have been amazed to see God at work in our lives and we are so thankful for the love and support of our church family. Now, through our ministry at Christ Church, we are excited to continue cultivating relationships centered on Christ's love for his children.
Children's Ministry Director
Jeri Bagley Children's Ministry Director
I was born and raised in Georgia. I attended the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and graduated with a degree in Social Studies Education. While at UGA, through a campus ministry called Campus Outreach, the Lord opened my eyes to the beauty of the gospel. I’m forever grateful for those years the Lord used to show me himself anew. I met my husband, Jeff (the youth guy!), while at Georgia and we got married right after I graduated. After Jeff finished college, we decided to move to Birmingham, a big reason being my parents moved back here after being away for almost 30 years. In the years after I graduated, I had a few jobs in different schools and at a nonprofit. After teaching for a year and realizing it was definitely not for me, the Lord beautifully orchestrated that I would fill the Children’s Ministry Director position. I’m so thankful to be able to pour into the children and families at Christ Church. It is an honor and I pray the Lord would use this ministry to shine the light of the gospel into little hearts and families.

Ashley Kennamer Communications Administrator
I grew up in the Fort Payne area of Northeast Alabama. There, I attended Northeast Alabama Community College for two years before transferring to Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi in 2016. After moving five hours from home, I was introduced to my husband, Cody, who grew up twenty minutes from me. During this time, Cody started going to Christ Church and eventually joined. In 2018, I graduated with my Bachelors in Social Work, moved to the Trussville area, married Cody, and joined the Christ Church family.
While in college, God began opening my heart and mind to what grace truly meant, and He used Cody to do that. I'm so grateful for the love of our Father and that He had a family lined up for me when I moved to Trussville. Christ church has been a place where I have had community where I knew no one. There were men and women welcoming us into their homes, praying for us, and willing to be honest as we all walked through life together.
Cody and I have loved working with the children and youth as Sunday school teachers and mentors. We have also enjoyed being a part of the mission work of the church. It has given me opportunities to learn what it means to be the church and to live on mission where I am.
